Nature is adaptable, and the individual is not always fully conscious of his loss; and therefore not being fully conscious of it, suffers but slightly. The loss of the individual is none the less felt in its entirety by the whole of society. While such things exist under one scheme of civilization, that scheme cannot afford to ignore every other system.
